The natural ear wax our ears produce forms a ear cleaning defensive layer in the ear canal, protecting against dust, dirt, and bacteria. Everyone develops different amounts of wax, and at different speeds.

Medical Questionnaire
Your fully qualified audiologist complete a brief medical questionnaire. Let your audiologist know of any hearing changes, pain levels, or other symptoms. They'll explain the earwax removal method, and answer your questions.

Ear Exam
Your audiologist will conduct a thorough examination using a specialised camera or microscope to assess your ear canal condition.

Earwax Removal
If there is earwax build up, they will proceed with gentle, precise earwax removal with microsuction. Patients usually find immediate reilef with minimal discomfort.
Aftercare
Slow down the build up of ear wax
We advise the use of olive oil drops once a week to keep your ears clear and moisturised, slowing down the build up of ear wax.
How to clean your ears with oil:

Tilting your head to one side whilst inserting the drops into your ear, allowing the oil to clean the whole ear canal and drum.

Wait 1-2 minutes.

Massage the entrance of ear canal to help spread the oil for more effective cleaning.

Repeat with the opposite ear if needed.
Some "do's" and "don'ts" for earwax removal
Do use olive oil
Before your appointment we recommend using olive oil for 3 days prior, for best results.
However we can still remove the wax without olive oil.
Do tell us of any changes
Keep track of hearing changes, pain levels, or other symptoms to discuss with your practitioner. We're here to help.
Don't use cotton buds
We do not advise you to attempt ear wax removal at home using cotton buds. This pushes ear wax closer to your ear drum and can cause further problems
We advise against online remedies
We advise against the use of Hopi ear wax candles and ear wax cleaners online, as they give false perceptions of ear wax removal and is very dangerous.
